Tracking lead status

Mark a lead In progress, Sold or Lost, see which leads you haven't opened yet, and filter on either.

Every delivered lead carries a status you can see and change: New, Viewed, In progress, Sold, Lost. The first two are automatic — a lead reads New until you open it, then Viewed. The last three are yours to set, from the list or from the lead itself, and you can change or clear them at any time.

It exists so you can tell at a glance which of today's leads nobody has touched, and so your provider knows how the leads they send you are performing.

StatusWho sets itWhat it means
NewAutomaticNobody on your side has opened this lead yet.
ViewedAutomaticSomebody opened the lead's page. It's a read receipt, nothing more.
In progressYouYou're working it — called, emailed, quoted.
SoldYouIt converted.
LostYouIt didn't, and you're done with it.

Setting a status

From the list. The status chip in the Status column is a menu — click it, pick In progress, Sold or Lost. The row updates in place, no page change. You can do this without opening the lead; doing so also marks it Viewed, because you clearly saw it.

From the lead. The same control sits beside the lead's name at the top of its page.

Undoing. Once a status is set, the menu gains Clear status. Clearing takes the lead back to Viewed — never back to New, since it has been opened and that isn't something to take back.

Only delivered leads take a status. A lead still pending, deferred or refused by your endpoint keeps its delivery status instead — there's nothing to work on yet. See your leads for what those mean.

Filtering by progress

The Progress dropdown, beside the status chips, narrows the list to one of the five: Any progress, New, Viewed, In progress, Sold, Lost. It lives in the address bar like the other filters, so a view is bookmarkable and shareable.

Progress: New is the useful one most mornings — it's every lead delivered to you that nobody has opened yet, however long ago it arrived. Your dashboard links straight to it whenever that count isn't zero: N leads waiting for a first look.

Export CSV carries a Progress column and honours the Progress filter, like it honours the status filter and the search box.

What your provider sees

Your provider sees whether each lead they delivered has been opened, and any status you set — always marked as reported by you. They can't change a status you set; it's your reading of the lead, not theirs.

They can also switch the whole feature off for their account, in their own settings. If you see no status chips and no Progress dropdown, that's why — ask them.

Common questions

Does exporting a CSV mark leads as Viewed? No. Viewed means somebody opened that lead's page. Downloading five thousand rows isn't five thousand leads read, and the number would be worthless if it were.

Does opening a lead twice change anything? No. Viewed is stamped the first time and never moves after that.

My whole team uses one login — whose "Viewed" is it? Your account's. The portal has one login per buyer, so Viewed means "somebody on your side opened it", not a specific person.

Do I have to set Sold or Lost? No. They're optional. New and Viewed keep working whether or not anybody declares an outcome — and your provider's figures always say how many leads have no declared outcome, rather than counting them as losses.

Can a status affect my billing or a dispute? No. Nothing is billed, credited or refunded on the back of a status, and a dispute is a separate thing entirely — see opening a dispute.

A lead was delivered to me twice — does it have one status or two? Two. Each delivery carries its own; the portal shows the most recent one.
